After the holidays, keep your poinsettia watered when the soil is dry, and give it bright light, and it will live as a regular houseplant until next year. We strongly suggest that you research "how to make a poinsettia bloom" to ensure color for next year, if you choose to keep your plant after the holiday.

Poinsettia Care Tips

Carefully remove your poinsettia from the sleeve and wrappings from the bottom (root ball) up. Cut any tape and wrappings instead of tearing through the wrappings to avoid damage to tender leaves. Remove any heavily damaged leaves if necessary. Do NOT attempt to lift the plant out of the sleeve; please CUT the sleeve and wrappings open.
Check the moisture level in the soil daily. Water slowly until water runs from the bottom of the pot when the surface is dry to the touch. If kept in a decorative pot or wrapping, remove the plant from the cover before watering to allow proper drainage.
Overly wet or overly dry soil may lead to leaf loss.
Keep your poinsettia in bright, indirect light, preferably a south, east, or west window, perhaps with sheer curtains to help diffuse the sunlight. Direct sunlight will scorch the leaves. They do best with at least 6 hours of indirect light every day while they’re in color.
Avoid drafts and blasts of hot or cold air. Keep your poinsettia in temperatures above 50 and not much higher than 75-about 70 degrees is ideal. If placed in a windowsill, avoid allowing the leaves to touch the glass.
Your poinsettia will remain at its most colorful at around 70 degrees.
Following these tips should keep your plant healthy and happy through the holiday season.
If you choose to keep your plant after the holidays, trim it back in April to about 6” above the soil. Feed with a balanced fertilizer about every 2 weeks, and keep your plant in bright sunlight and warm conditions. As it grows, you can pinch off side branches, but avoid pruning the terminal tips or pruning after August. In the fall, bring your plant inside and keep it in a warm, indirectly lit area. Poinsettias require short days and long nights to “bloom”, so make sure to cover your plant for 14 hours every evening/night for 8-10 weeks; start providing that darkness around October 1 for holiday color. You can place your plant in a closet, or place a box over it, to create the total darkness needed to encourage colorful bracts to form. ANY light can disrupt the “blooming” process, so be sure to completely cover the plant each night, and uncover it the next morning.

Plants are shipped bare root, without pots. We take great care to package each order securely so your plants arrive happy and healthy. Each plant is removed from the nursery pot it's currently growing in, the root ball (minus any loose soil) is wrapped in recycled plastic, and the whole plant is wrapped in paper for safety. We use shredded paper to provide support to fragile leaves and stems, so be sure to open your wrapped plant over the box. Pots and pot covers will ship outside the wrapped plant.

All photos are representations of the plants you will receive. Each order is hand-selected to provide the greatest quality to our customers. Because of the way our plants are pulled, wrapped, and packed, and because we have walk in customers, we are unfortunately not able to provide photos of the plant you will receive. Will my plants be the exact plant(s) in the picture?

All photos are representative of items you will receive. Please remember these are live plants, and they will vary in size, shape, and color. We choose listing photos that are similar to the plant you receive, that accurately represent what we send out. Each order is hand-selected to provide the greatest quality to our customers; we do our best to choose the best of the bunch every time. Because these are live plants, some slight mechanical damage may show on some leaves. We remove any heavily damaged portions, but may choose to retain leaves that are damaged but still healthy and providing energy to the plant. These possible slight imperfections make your plant unique and special, and will in no way affect the health of your plant.

Shipping Policies

Plants are shipped bare root, without pots. Upon arrival, plants should be potted, watered and exposed to indirect sunlight based on the plant's needs.

We ship USPS First-Class Mail and USPS Priority Mail based on size, weight, distance, and customer preference. Items will be shipped within 3-5 business days of receiving payment unless otherwise noted in each listing. During peak order times, this may increase to 5-7 business days. If you need the items immediately, please contact us, or choose Priority Express.

Shipping is only available within the United States. Puerto Rico residents will need to choose priority shipping; first class is not available.

Combined Shipping and Bulk Orders

We offer partially combined shipping. The first item will be charged at full price and will increase by a fixed amount based on each item added to the package.

USPS Issues

If your tracking shows your order as delivered, but it hasn't arrived, please allow the USPS 3-5 business days to get it to you. This is an occasional issue, and is generally resolved with a short wait. If your package hasn't arrived by the end of the 5th business day after it's marked delivered, please contact us so we can file a claim and send you a replacement if necessary.
